Originally hailing from Derry in Ireland, Jennifer Hardy has moved around quite a bit. Having lived in places such as San Francisco, Sydney, Perth and Edinburgh. She has now been living in Ramsbottom since 2015 and is loving it – especially the eating out part in places like Levanter.

In 2009 Jennifer was even a finalist in the Red Stripe Music Awards.

In 2013 Blackened Eyes, Jennifer’s debut album was released.

Jennifer is currently working on her follow up to Blackened Eyes and planning a UK tour, but you don’t need to wait! You can hear her support Fred’s House on Wednesday the 17th of February, so when this is released, just three days!

Welcome to another episode of This is Rammy, this week we’ve had more dodgy weather with another storm coming in and battering the North West, this time it was storm Gertrude. I was out on Saturday and saw the fishmonger on Ramsbottom Market having a tough time of it in the wind with their signs blowing all over the place.

There’s just very little you can do to secure them in such strong winds. As well as the strong wind we’ve had downpours of hail and thunder and lightning.

You can’t say we don’t have some dramatic weather up here in Ramsbottom, storm chasers need not look very far.

It’s 2016! We don’t have flying cars yet, but we have hoverboards that are being banned left right and centre in America, including a raid on at a recent electronics show CES.

I don’t think they’ll be “taking off” in Ramsbottom anytime soon though.

This week I interviewed Stephen Gill of Summerseat players and I looked at how Summerseat Players actually came to be in Ramsbottom.

In 1990 what was then the “Buskers Showbar and Snooker Hall” (formerly “The Royal Cinema”) was purchased by the Summerseat Players. It was renamed to what is now, the Theatre Royal. It then underwent lots of changes to create the theatre and in September 1991 it opened to the public with their production of “Stepping Out”.

Interestingly, Stephen mentioned that they had also looked at the old Co-Op Building at the time, but access was considered too difficult and costly to correct. I spoke to Stephen Marley about the old Co-Op building in episode 41.

I also found out how many people it takes to actually put on a production.

A very wet Tuesday morning saw me visiting the Eagle and Child to have a chat with Eve Townson and Glen Duckett.

If you’ve not heard of the Eagle and Child before, they are a multi-award winning family dining pub situated overlooking Ramsbottom.

Providing training and experience for many young adults; helping them learn a trade whilst building up their confidence in the hospitality industry. Similar to what Jamie Oliver did with Fifteen back in 2002, Glen Duckett is doing here in Ramsbottom.
