When Sarah first discovered Total Immersion Swimming she realised that this way of swimming was so groundbreaking that she wanted to become a teacher.

Sarah’s commitment to making swimming enjoyable and accessible to all helped her gain recognition as the I Will If You Will Bury Sporting Female Of The Year for 2015.

Sarah is a Level 2 Total Immersion coach and a level 2 swimming teacher who is passionate about making the pleasure and benefits of Total Immersion swimming available to all regardless of age, background, aspiration or fitness levels.

This podcast interview was conducted inside the Swimmingly Pool area and despite the fact it was a December day it was really cosy and relaxing, a great environment to learn to swim.

It’s Mother’s Day, and on this episode of This is Rammy, I bring someone who has had many close connections with expectant mothers.

I was introduced to Kati by a local resident who basically said she’d be great to have on the show. Little did I know exactly how much that Kati actually did, from drumming to spoken word poetry to being a doula and hypnobirthing teacher.

At first, I’ll be honest, I was not entirely sure how I could do Kati justice, let’s face it, I’m a man and often a males perception of birth is completely different.

We’re well known for putting on fantastic events and festivals here in Ramsbottom, but have you heard of the Ramsbottom Christmas Tree Festival? This event is starting on the 1st of December down at Dundee United Reformed Church.

Local shops and businesses will provide a Christmas tree to Dundee United Reformed Church decorated in their own style. There will be raffles for some fantastic prizes and money raised will go towards Speakeasy Ramsbottom which is a specialist aphasia charity based in Ramsbottom.

It starts on Friday the 1st of December and the Mayor will be opening up at 1pm on that day.

This week I had the honor of being able to interview the fantastic Neil Arthur of the band Blancmange. This came around as Blancmange are playing Darwen Library in October.

If you are just “tuning in” for the Neil Arthur interview, to give you a little bit of background about the podcast, This is Rammy was started in 2014 as a means of sharing some of the fantastic things that go on in and around my town of Ramsbottom.

Where Blancmange will be playing in Darwen is at it’s shortest driving route just 10 miles from Ramsbottom and you can get there in under 30 minutes by car.

Is it time for more CCTV in Ramsbottom? – Episode 94

I was just putting together the show for this week when I came across some news that really saddened me. The newest shop in Ramsbottom, Bang and Olufsen had been broken into. Not only did the thieves break into it once, they broke into it TWICE. Bang and Olufsen has only been opened since the 1st of June this year and in just five and a half weeks to be broken into twice could be massively demotivating.

I spoke to Karön of Bang and Olufsen Ramsbottom to find out exactly what happened and how it’s been in the days since the break-in. Karön was great and despite what’s happened was very upbeat and positive about the town.

This raises the question though, why is there not more CCTV in Ramsbottom especially given the steady increase in crime around the town?
