Welcome to another episode of This is Rammy, the podcast for Ramsbottom, it’s events and more importantly it’s people. Glad you could join me once more. This week I’m talking about the discussions that have popped up regaring Bridge Street since it’s recent closure for emergency repairs to the gas pipes. Could Pedestrianisation of Bridge Street work?

After several weeks, Bridge Street has reopened, but did this bring with it cheers of glee and dancing in the street? Not exactly, far more references to the poor workmanship based on the patching up of the surface. The tarmac was apparently going to be resurfaced but it would seem that either they forgot or ran out of time or money or both.

I can sympathise though, as you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. There were even some people who were calling for Bridge Street to be pedestrianised.

What do you think of the potential pedestrianisation of Bridge Street?
Would you like to see this happen?
Could it even work?

I want to start the conversation, and not just shouting back and forth about why it’s a great idea or why it’s a terrible idea, lets have some good honest debate as you’re the best one to voice it.

Bury Council save Ramsbottom from a slow choking death

November 27, 2015 by Lee

HappyFamilyFieldBury Council have today released a report that the planned anaerobic digestion facility has been rejected.

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for resource and regulation, was quoted as saying: “This has been a long process which has stirred up a lot of emotion among residents in Ramsbottom. I am confident that the council and its staff dealt with the whole matter in a scrupulously fair and professional way, and I welcome the fact that this has effectively been recognised in the decision by the Inspector and the Secretary of State.” [Read more…] about Bury Council save Ramsbottom from a slow choking death
