No to Ramsbottom AD Plant Posters

April 1, 2015 by Lee

Say NO to an AD Waste Plant Poster Preview
Say NO to an AD Waste Plant Poster Preview

The visit from the Planning Inspector was postponed today (01/04/2015), as such, we need EVERYONE in the community to ensure they have their NO TO AD posters up as they will be back TOMORROW MORNING, that means they have to go up tonight.

The Planning Inspector will then complete a report summarising the Inquiry which will be given to Eric Pickles, Secretary of State. A decision will then be made in June after the election.

You can get your No to Ramsbottom AD Plant Posters at the two links below, one is a PDF the other is a Word Document, whichever works for you is great, put as many up as you can, we need to stand together on this.

PDF Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByJwNLiF9UVwSVpzejN0VVpMZmc/view?usp=sharing

Word Docx Link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByJwNLiF9UVwSWZIX2FUckZhY1U&authuser=0

We want everyone to be able to show the council and government, and most importantly the planners of the plant that we will not stand for a waste disposal plant on our doorstep!

We aim to keep Ramsbottom as a green belt, not a rubbish tip/green belt.

Go forth and print 🙂

Ramsbottom gets a Hooters

April 1, 2015 by Lee 3 Comments

HootersIts official! Ramsbottom gets a Hooters! Ramsbottom is to be the hub of the first Hooters in the North West. We’re just awaiting the planning permission ID from Bury Council so we can verify exactly what will be in it, but it’s looking like the only business willing to stump up the £22,000 a year in rent will be Hooters.

Opening hours have been granted between 10am and 2am, local residents have all agreed that although excessive for the area, they feel it is worth it to have such a big name in our small town.

The site of the Denise Smith lighting shop on the corner of Bridge Street and Bolton Street is the proposed site.

Hooters have declined to comment however they have provided a link for anyone looking for a job in a well established branded drinking and eating venue: Hooters Application Form

So, anyone looking forward to the only other Hooters in the country being in Ramsbottom?

Could "Play Streets" work in Ramsbottom?

World Book Day at Ramsbottom Library

March 8, 2015 by Lee Leave a Comment

Last Thursday it was World Book Day at Ramsbottom Library.

You’ve all heard the saying, “Never judge a book by it’s cover” well Ramsbottom Library, along with all Libraries in Bury put together a very clever idea using just some brown paper packing to combat this.

The idea? Bag-a-book, which is?

Take one book, identify it’s reader age, put it into a brown paper bag, and label it with the age. That’s it. Could contain Wizards, could contain Fairies, who knows.

That’s how great this idea is, it’s SO simple, yet ties in to mystery and mystique before you’ve even got the book home.

I hope all those children who took part in this gave the books a chance, World Book Day is a great time to remember your local libraries, and Ramsbottom Library is a great place full of books and souvenirs from around Ramsbottom.

You can find it on Carr Street, about 200 meters past the Urn and just past the Doctors.

What’s on for kids in Ramsbottom?

The Ramsbottom community have launched a new Facebook page called. “What’s on for kids in Ramsbottom” (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1585053361736238)

This page has been setup to bring more specific events and activities for children in Ramsbottom.

Most of the other pages had businesses advertising things such as DIY and cleaning services which naturally weren’t relevant if you just wanted to find something to do for you and your family.

Here’s hoping that this new page brings with it all the right content and discussion.
