Electric Car charging points in Ramsbottom

Electric cars have taken off in the past year or so, with many news outlets pumping out how they are cleaner, greener and can help cut costs (ignoring the fact that most are considerably more expensive than their fossil fuel burning equivalents).

Well with our Electric Car charging points in Ramsbottom we can certainly cater for this growing class of driver.

Some of the more popular electric cars, at least when it comes to a news standpoint are the Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen e-UP (can’t help but say this in a Yorkshire accent), and the Tesla Model S to name but three.

This week This is Rammy interviews Danny English of The CommuniTree Initiative.
Having grown up in Ramsbottom, there are very few places that Danny doesn’t know about, but when it came to finding a place for his community project (The CommuniTree Initiative) he found it wasn’t quite so straightforward as he might have expected.

Danny spent lots of time visiting areas of local woods and parks, but nothing quite felt right, that was until a local member of the Village Community Group in Summerseat was able to show him The Island, which just fit in perfectly with what Danny envisaged his project to be.

Google Maps Pac-Man April Fools

This year for 2015 Google, as always had many April Fools jokes, from the Google Panda to Google Maps Pac-Man. It’s the latter that I wanted to mention here, as not only is it a bit of fun for April Fools, it’s also very playable. To get to this, simply go to Google Maps and click on the Pac-Man box in the bottom right, this will put a small “Ready” outline on screen, this is where you’re going to play.

It’s a great little time waster, but I guess you could argue that it will help you to learn the area, shame the road names get removed, no doubt in part to keep with the theme of the original arcade game.

Melanie Southworth on climbing Everest – Episode 4

I was lucky enough to be able to interview Melanie Southworth for This is Rammy a few weeks ago and discussed with her the climb that she’s about to undertake. Everest!

From growing up in Ramsbottom on Bolton Street, visiting The Major with her father growing up or even running a shop in Ramsbottom, Melanie has been heavily involved with Ramsbottom which is why she’s taking the Ramsbottom coat of arms on a flag to put on the top of Everest.

Whilst chatting it became evident that Melanie is a very grounded person, who clearly doesn’t appear to let anything phase her, no’one takes on Everest lightly and Mel fully understands this having been some way up it previously.
