Something I’ve been building for a while has just gone live a bit earlier than planned, and the traffic lights that have been sitting near Park Farm are the reason why.
Up until now I’d been relying on a third-party system to keep tabs on local roadworks. It did the job, but I wanted something better.
I’ve now got roadworks notifications coming directly from the Department for Transport’s Street Manager system, which I’m filtering and presenting on a map for Ramsbottom and the surrounding areas, I might trim it yet, not decided.
You can see where roadworks have been reported, what restrictions are planned and when the work is expected to take place.
Right now this isn’t a live traffic map. It won’t tell you whether you’re about to spend 20 minutes staring at the back of the 472 bus. It shows reported roadworks and their planned dates, rather than actual traffic conditions.
It’s early days, and the information is only as accurate and complete as the notifications received, so if you spot anything off or missing, let me know.
You can find it at thisisrammy.co.uk/traffic.
