Welcome to another episode of This is Rammy, the podcast for Ramsbottom, it’s events and more importantly it’s people. Glad you could join me once more. This week I’m talking about the discussions that have popped up regaring Bridge Street since it’s recent closure for emergency repairs to the gas pipes. Could Pedestrianisation of Bridge Street work?
After several weeks, Bridge Street has reopened, but did this bring with it cheers of glee and dancing in the street? Not exactly, far more references to the poor workmanship based on the patching up of the surface. The tarmac was apparently going to be resurfaced but it would seem that either they forgot or ran out of time or money or both.
I can sympathise though, as you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. There were even some people who were calling for Bridge Street to be pedestrianised.
What do you think of the potential pedestrianisation of Bridge Street?
Would you like to see this happen?
Could it even work?
I want to start the conversation, and not just shouting back and forth about why it’s a great idea or why it’s a terrible idea, lets have some good honest debate as you’re the best one to voice it.

Ramsbottom United News:
After a great result with a 2 all draw against Burscough where Gareth Seddon managed a goal he might have been a bit cheesed off at the recent spanking we got from Clitheroe in the Northern Premier League Division one match on Monday the 29th of August.
Clitheroe; currently 4th in the league managed to put four past our keeper. After the match Mark Fell, joint manager of the club had this to say:
It was painful, and certainly if I’d had paid my money to come and watch the game today from a Ramsbottom perspective, the supporters will be justifiably disappointed but I can assure everybody that nobody is as disappointed as we are. We’re very clear in the way forward to address some of the issues from today.
Check out the full interview with Mark Fell here on the Ramsbottom United Podcast.
This week we also saw Chairman Harry Williams presented with an award from The FA celebrating the golden anniversary of Ramsbottom United. This is a nice touch to celebrate what Harry has achieved over the years with Ramsbottom United, well done Harry.

What might seem a good idea has plenty of negatives, how will the residents of Crow Lane feel about all the extra traffic past their houses. Queuing traffic at the top of Kay Brow is another problem + all HGV’s delivering to the paper mill at Stubbins are going to have to come through Bury via Brandlesholme, not good
