How are you? Have you managed to get out in the breaks in rain recently? I don’t know about you but when I’m out for a walk I feel a bit of a fraud. Not because I don’t often go out for walks, but because we live here I tend to be under-dressed compared to others I pass.

These people tend to be kitted up properly in boots, thermals, walking sticks and woolly hats, and me, well I feel like I practically stepped out there in slippers.

Several news articles have popped up this week that I thought it worth talking about, starting off with:

Plans have been submitted for Park 66 which contain KFC, drive-through Costa Coffee and gym. – 1:15

I don’t know if you ever visit Park 66 just off the M66 motorway, but I quite often nip into the ASDA petrol station on my way home to fill up. I spoke last year about the old cinema at Park 66 that had recently been demolished and mused on what the plans might be for the site.

The site became unused back in 2010 when the Cinema closed and the retail units on site shut up shop too leaving pretty much just the McDonalds and ASDA on their own.

These plans have now been submitted to Bury Council and they include the following:

KFC
JD Sports
a gym
and a DRIVE THRU Costa.

All these reported by Bury Times.

Almost 50 workers set to lose jobs at Stubbins Mill in due to paper machine shutdown Ramsbottom. – 2:37

Bury Times reports that company owner SCA have confirmed that they are now in a “period of consultation”  with workers regarding the loss of jobs. Back in 2015 SCA closed down Paper Machine 1 causing the loss of around 30 jobs at the time.

Structure work has already been going on at the site with several buildings knocked down, I don’t know if this is related to the Paper Machine 2 closure however.

Trains bosses celebrate as 201,000 people use East Lancs stations in 2016 – 4:23

East Lancs Railway have been celebrating after a reported 25 percent increase in visitors in 2016. Over 201,000 people used the line during that time. The appearance of the Flying Scotsman naturally contributed to these numbers with around 30,000 visitors alone coming to see it. The question will be, can the East Lancs Railway continue this trend in 2017.

As reported on Lancashire Telegraph

Ramsbottom United BadgeRamsbottom United News: – 5:13

Today February 4th 2017, Ramsbottom United saw off Ossett Albion in a fantastic four nil win. All four goals were seen in the first half of the match with the first being a penalty from Gareth Seddon on 27 minutes followed closely by Reagan Ogle on 30 minutes, Nathan Webb on 36 minutes and lastly Paul Linwood on 45 minutes.

This has placed United in a lucky 13th position in the league. Ossett Albion have now dropped to 18th in the league.

The next match for Ramsbottom is against Brighouse Town at Home on Saturday the 11th of February
