Future upgrade path identified.
As you can imagine there are many costs with producing a podcast. Website hosting, microphones, storage costs, software and audio production costs to name several.
Currently all costs come out of my own pocket, however if you ever wanted to donate to the podcast, maybe with audio production credits, then who am I to stop you?
Ramsbottom is undergoing a facelift (some would say constantly), specifically Bridge Street. It was supposed to have several new premises opening however it would appear that Havana Cafe and Bar is no longer going to be opening, meaning that W.D Scholes is back on the market again for someone to invest in. The following businesses however are WELL on their way to opening and have made huge leaps towards opening day.
You might recall from the interview I had with Lucy that Little Goody New Shoes is opening soon. The signs have been installed, stock is rolling in and the first steps into becoming a shoe shop have been made.
Another shop open during the day is a welcome to Ramsbottom given the recent boom in evening establishments such as Bars and Restaurants, speaking of which.

Welcome to the latest episode of This is Rammy where today (27th of September), Kay Brow is closing for 5 days. I suspect this is going to cause some serious problems with traffic in Ramsbottom and as a result, I am going to be the first to dub event this Browmaggedon!
The reason for this road closure is that a wall is being demolished and rebuilt, I’m not sure which wall this is specifically, maybe you know?
All the signs on Kay Brow say that it will be closed for 5 days, however I learnt from this week’s copy of Bury Times they reported that the work is going on for 6 weeks! Yes SIX WEEKS!
They do also mention that the road will become a one way system from Square Street to Bolton Street, so essentially the whole hill part of Kay Brow.
September 30th is International Podcast Day; to do my bit I thought I’d share with you some of the podcasts that I listen to and how I got into podcasts themselves.
I first started listening to podcasts way back around 2002/2003 when I was a big listener of LUG Radio, this was a weekly podcast about Linux, if that doesn’t mean anything to you, I’ll leave it there as I don’t want you to go thinking I’m a massive geek or anything (because I am). Since then, I have been seeking out podcasts for various topics, mostly computing given my background in IT, but now and again entertainment related podcasts too and even podcasts for researching content for This is Rammy.
Wait though, how did International Podcast Day come about? Well, last year was the first National Podcast day which was started over in that there America, it was started because the founder realised that there were dates for various things online, such as Memorial Day, Flag Day, but nothing for Podcasts, and thus National Podcast Day was started. One of the first things pointed out was that podcasts are international and we have electricity and the internet over here too you, you, you Americans! So, it was revised to International Podcast day.
Now you have the back history of me and my foray into listening to podcasts, here are the podcasts I currently listen to and some I think need notable mention, have a listen and see what you think, the more people who listen to podcasts, the more popular they will become in the mainstream, and there are some really well produced podcasts out there.

This week on the *cough* AWARD WINNING podcast for Ramsbottom, I spoke to James Frith.
Most of you will recognise him from his very successful campaign to become the Bury North MP for the Labour Party.
It made sense to get someone who knows a bit about politics to chat about the recent Labour leader election, I couldn’t think of anyone better suited than James Frith.
Not only did James run for MP for Bury North but him and his wife run their own businesses from Bury, his wife Nikkis being in Ramsbottom itself.
