If you often use Factory Street to get through Ramsbottom, you’ll need to go round from the 18th of November as the carriageway is being resurfaced. Many thanks to Alan Groves for pointing this out to me via the Twitter account.
Signs have gone up indicating that Factory Street will be closed from the 18th of November for around a week (allowance for up to 24th of November).
This will have the potential for some knock on traffic and delays so please take this into account when travelling around Ramsbottom from tomorrow. At least it’s only a week though.

I presume this re-surfacing is paid for by the massive new housing development that blocks out the view of the Moors. It’s the same at “Moorgate” in Bury where the Rock [or Block] building has had the same effect.
Strangely, the large Crane on site at the Factory St site was in pretty much the same position as the one in place when the area was a Goods Yard [1908 Map]! I recall a row of houses still in place during the seventies on the other side of the road from the “new build” but the Church that stood on the triangle of land at the end was long gone!
