This week on This is Rammy I spoke to David Foster who is one of the organisers of the yearly (we can say that now as this is the second festival) Ramsbottom Jigsaw festival.
David explained how everything started, where the original ideas came from and just how many jigsaws we can expect at this years festival.
News:
* Grants bowling green planning permission denied.
* Venetian Hideaway builds a bar.
The plan to build 24 flats on the remains of the Grants Bowling Green have been denied yet again by the council and thrown out when a large collection residents put up a fantastic response in opposition to the plans.
The opposition which was headed by the Ramsbottom Heritage Society and backed by the Ramsbottom Community Hub had been working with the council submitting alternative ideas for the old bowling green and digging out historic local evidence which proved that the bowling green had been given to the town for recreational use.
In other planning news, not that this is a regular section or anything, Venetian Hideaway have converted their upstairs flat into a waiting bar with added balcony. This can be used for any customers who are waiting for a table, previously, waiting at the bar in the basement was a bit cramped, so this should allow for customers to relax and chat a bit easier.
Latest football results and league news:
In a response to the latest poor form from Ramsbottom United, the Rams have taken on a loan player from Stockport County. That player is 19 year old Charlie Russell. As well as having Russell on loan, two other players should have been fit for yesterdays match against Sutton Coldfield. Those players being Andy Dawson and Lee Pugh.
Hopefully, they made the difference in yesterdays home match.
The next match for the Rams is on Tuesday the 8th against Darlington 1883, I’m not sure what the 1883 refers to, I think it’s related to Kronenburg.
