Sadly, some of us might not be surprised to learn that Ramsbottom has had a dramtic increase in the number of reported burglaries, with the decrease in public funding and a reduction of Police presence as well as the closing of the local Police Station, this was some said, “inevitable”.

Some have described the situation as a criminals playground on Facebook with very few crimes being investigated. How true this is I don’t know however the trends certainly provide worrying viewing.

Using a tool created by Trinity Mirror I’ve had a look at a few postcodes around Ramsbottom to try to cover a wide area, here is how they break down. I used the Derbyshire Telegraph site to conduct these searches.

How do the numbers stack up?

Starting with the postcode for Old Dun Horse (BL0 9JE) you can see already a concerning trend in the number of reported burglaries compared to the same period the past year.

I also took a look at the reported burglaries for the postcode of the Hare and Hounds BL0 9RY and Brandlesholm Road, Greenmount BL8 4DS:

When using postcode BL0 9HT which is for Lolos however you can see there has been a massive increase in reported burglaries.

There have been some arrests and convicitons recently of reported criminals, let’s hope this starts to bring the crime rate down however it’s pretty obvious that since the Police Station has closed and funding been reduced, crime has increased.
