Me and a few friends had a lovely meal in the Ramsbottom Chocolate Café yesterday afternoon, although the place was very busy, the service was second to none, all staff were very helpful and our food arrived promptly.

Unlike what you’d expect, not all of the food is chocolate based, however the chilli I had did happen to have some dark chocolate in it, but I feel that’s more for effect then taste, I couldn’t taste it anyway.

As I mentioned, I had the chilli with baked potato for my meal, but the crowning glory was the Milk Chocolate Hot Chocolate with Ginger, it was amazing. Very sweet and rich, I could only have one, but that would be one a day and I’d still never get bored of them.

Once you’ve finished eating you can head downstairs to buy some chocolate or just watch them making it in the viewing area. It’s difficult to not be tempted by the array of chocolates on offer. I bought some chocolate to remind me of my visit, sampled the free chocolate drops on the till area and paid our bill. The smell is great whilst they’re creating the chocolates, however given it’s so close to the till, it’s easy to become distracted when prompted to “Please remove your card”.

Ultimately, this is a brilliantly executed destination should you find yourself in Ramsbottom, if you don’t find yourself in Ramsbottom, why not make a special trip, there is LOTS on offer, I defy you to be bored. Plus, it’s hard to miss the Chocolate Café, it’s opposite the big metal sculpture, officially called the Tilted Vase but effectionately known to most as the Urn (or Urnie).
