We’ve had some lovely weather so far in Ramsbottom for this year’s 1940’s weekend, the highlight of which was the flyover by the Spitfire.

Not only is it 1940s weekend but it’s also half term next week and with that in mind I’ve decided to throw together some options if you’re stuck for ideas with the family this week. If you have no responsibility for any children, you can pretty much do what you want anyway so make your own list.

It would be great to see your photos if you do manage to do any of these things. Horses, Graveyards and Homemade Kites

One of the reasons I moved to Ramsbottom with my family was for the ability to get out in the hills and woods, spend an hour or two wandering around and then come home again without ever needing to set foot in a car.

On Sunday, as the rain had stopped I decided to take advantage and do just that. My son had just woken from his nap (lucky boy) and from somewhere in the depths of my mind I remembered how much I liked making kites as a child, so I asked him if he wanted to make one. He was very keen and couldn’t wait to use his scissors (the fact his are plastic and they wouldn’t cut string nor carrier bag didn’t seem to bother him too much as I distracted him with stickers).

Have you ever thought about writing a book? Well my guest this week has done that, and not only is he now published, he is published by a method that me or you could do tomorrow, not that it would necessarily be successful.

That method is the very popular crowdfunding concept. If you’re unaware of what crowdfunding is, allow me to provide a brief description. Crowdfunding is where people with an idea can put forward that idea online and anyone who thinks that they would like to see that idea happen can “back” that idea, essentially invest in it.

They do this by agreeing to pay a certain amount of money, this is often rewarded with perks, for example with Pauls book, one of the perks included an invitation to the book launch, your name in the book and a copy.

Google Street View of Ramsbottom Updated to October 2015

We’ve all done it, come on, be honest. You’ve looked at your house on Google Street View, right?

It just so happens that Google have now updated their Street View images for Ramsbottom to October 2015. Depending on where you visit in Ramsbottom using Google Street View you may or may not get multiple options as it seems they did do a few other drives in other months, but primarily you’ll find the following photos from 2009 and 2015.
