I have today spoken to Melanie Southworth who is still at Everest Base Camp. See previous post: https://www.thisisrammy.co.uk/melanie-southworth-update/
She tells me most if the climbers have now left but tomorrow she will be meeting with others to try to agree with the government to not open up the mountain for climbing too soon.
She tells me this is something that happened after last years avalanche, the government were more interested in tourism then respecting those that were lost in the avalanche.
I will release the conversation in a midweek out of schedule podcast episode.
Thanks for your support and interest in Mel’s safe return.
Mel, a pint in the Major and chips and gravy are waiting for you once you’re back home.
Absolutely fantastic news Mel is safe and helping where she can.
Thanks for keeping us all updated Lee –

Hi,
Thanks for keeping us upto date on the situation Mel is in. Great to her she is well and still showing that Rammy fighting spirit! I’m a school friend from Hazelhurst School. We were in the same class 40 years ago. would be great if you pass on my best wishes to her.
Hi Nick, I’m just editing the conversation now, just to make sure it can sound as good as you all deserve, there was a bit of a bad delay on the line, so often we clash in the conversation, but given the circumstances, I think we did ok.
