The last few months have been difficult (and continue to be) for everyone for obvious reasons. Whilst some locals have been making face masks and PPE, groups such as RammyMen have been helping with shopping and many other things and our local restaurants have been feeding the needy and those hardworking NHS staff and homeless on the frontline.
Glen Duckett from the Eagle and Child got in touch a few weeks back to let me know some of the fantastic things themselves and others have been doing to help:
We are currently sending out prepared meals each week working with
Mary-Ellen McTague, who established #McrFoodInitiative which aims to
feed the NHS workers and vulnerable people, such as the homeless and
family members of those in hospital or care.
Not only that, but Glen told me they’ve provided more than just meals, they’ve helped with equipment too:
We have supplied the Manchester homeless projects with kit including a

number of soup kettles and fridge/freezer.
Members of Glens team are volunteering each week to cook, package and deliver much needed healthy and high quality ready meals to keep them sustained during the crisis. Just a few weeks ago Glen and the team provided over 100 meals for the Manchester Food Initiative.
And it’s not just Glen and the Eagle and Child, Rachel Stockley of Baratxuri has also been involved, take a look at the video below for Eat Well MCR, you might recognise a few familiar faces there:

Thank you to everyone who has been helping in this difficult period, even the small things such as chatting to neighbours over the fence to ensure they’re ok.
We will get there, together.
