No no no, it’s not the Ironman in the image above, Ironman UK is the premier full distance race in the United Kingdom.
It involves a 2.4 mile swim in Pennington Flash, a 112 mile bike ride through Lancashire and a 26.2 mile marathon to the finish in Bolton town centre.
There’s been a few questions related to what roads are going to be closed around Ramsbottom on the upcoming Ironman event on Sunday the 14th of July.
If you weren’t aware of the event, it’s not your fault, there have been a few people who weren’t aware too, hence this post.
So, to try to assist I’ve picked out the roads and streets in Ramsbottom that will be affected from the Bury Council Website.
Road closures and one-way restrictions – Sunday 14 July between 7am and 3pm:
- Lumb Carr Road, Ramsbottom – full length
- Helmshore Road, Ramsbottom – Lumb Carr Road to borough boundary
- Bolton Road, Ramsbottom (Eastbound only) – Ramsbottom Road to Bolton Road West
- Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom (Eastbound only) – Bolton Road to Lumb Carr Road
No parking or waiting at any time from 7pm on Saturday 13 July to 3pm on Sunday 14 July:
- Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom – Bolton Road to Lumb Carr Road
- Lumb Carr Road, Ramsbottom – full length
- Helmshore Road, Ramsbottom – Lumb Carr Road to the borough boundary
- Chapel Lane, Ramsbottom
Keep in mind:
- Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
