Pancake Recipes Ramsbottom Style

February 27, 2017 by Lee Leave a Comment

Do you flip or turn?

What am I talking about? Pancakes of course!

It’s coming up pancake day (or shrove Tuesday if you want to use the correct name) but ultimately we all know it as pancake day.

So what better than to celebrate Pancake Day than with some locally sourced pancake recipes?

I’d love to see if you make of these, please send in your photos and I’ll share them.

Right, let’s start with the first of the pancake recipes which is a savoury recipe and comes courtesy of Mellissa Brown of The Mouse Trap If you don’t happen to have any Perl Las cheese you can substitute for another Blue Cheese or nip into The Mouse Trap and they’ll be happy to sell you some.

Welcome to This is Rammy, your weekly podcast for all things Ramsbottom.

This week in Ramsbottom we’ve had a bit of a breeze whip through of the name Storm Doris. Doris went on to remove many fence panel (shout out to Paul Jenkins) and some trees fell over too. As far as I’m aware nobody locally was seriously injured. There were some reports of minor injuries being sustained, (another shout out to Paul Jenkins), I even ended up getting involved with moving bits of a fallen tree.

What happened was on Thursday, I was just watching social media, well it was my on my day off and I noticed someone report that a tree had fallen down on The Rake. Right, I thought, time for some on the stop finger on the pulse journalism.

I left my house and started running up towards The Rake, before realising that was a stupid idea given I had to pick my son up in just ten minutes so I turned round and got my car.

Once at the bottom of The Rake, it wasn’t obvious where this tree was, I couldn’t see it from the bottom, so I decided to drive up and take a look. Right at the top was the tree, fallen from the

Coming up this week on the website I’ve got a few recipes from our fantastic local restaurants Pancake Day

How to survive a Zombie Apocalypse in Ramsbottom

February 22, 2017 by Lee Leave a Comment

With the return of The Walking Dead to our TV screens I’ve been pondering a question with a friend, one which I’m sure you’ve wondered too. Assuming you’re in Ramsbottom at the time, the question is, how to survive a Zombie Apocalypse?

Real Scientists ponder on how to survive a Zombie Apocalypse.

A few years back, Cornell University researchers actually put some thought into how to survive a Zombie Apocalypse. They agreed the best place to go would be somewhere remote, ideally mountainous like the Rockies.

Given we don’t have anything quite like The Rockies here, and Holcombe Hill, though lovely isn’t exactly Rockies status we’ve ruled that out.

So the question I’m going to attempt to answer today is, where is the best place in Ramsbottom to hold up in a Zombie Apocalypse?

This is a slightly different question to How to survive a Zombie Apocalypse in general. Naturally the answer there would be as far away from any forms of population as possible as Cornell University have suggested.

With that in mind, let’s crack on with the thought process, but before we go any further, we first need to better understand the definition of a Zombie.

If you’re just getting to the point of 2017 where your good intentions and New Year’s resolutions are starting to wane, then this week’s guest could be just the ticket to give you that boost you need.

Richard Ferguson is an international motivational speaker, as well as this he’s a management consultant working with some large familiar global businesses.

Richard certainly knows his stuff and since chatting with Richard I actually managed to release more content for the website and get some of those niggling tasks off my list.

I got back from this interview in very strong winds and unfortunately mine and my wife’s cars had both ran out of washer fluid. I had some trouble popping up the bonnet of my wife’s car, but I managed to get it done, sometimes you don’t quite know where the latch is, especially when it’s not your car.

So I was wrapped up with scarf in 3 degree temperatures and 20 mile an hour winds filling up my wife’s washer fluid after the interview, it was late,we both have work in the morning, but I got it done. So I lowered the bonnet, and it wouldn’t close. I pushed it, nothing. I lifted and dropped it, nothing. Nightmare. So now, I was stuck with a bonnet half open in very strong winds.

Ramsbottom residents have a lucky escape when recent storms bring down tree

February 18, 2017 by Lee 2 Comments

Just inches from the fence and a few meters from the house.

Residents of George Road in Ramsbottom might not realise how close a shave they had when a tree fell down behind them.

The tree which was located between Dundee Lane Church and George Road was around 20 meters in length has been brought down in recent high winds.
