Tre Ciccio Ramsbottom Opening Night – Verdict?

February 27, 2019 by Lee 4 Comments

The newest and highly lauded restaurant Tre Ciccio has finally opened in Ramsbottom. Tre Ciccio Ramsbottom is the third restaurant to open in just a few short years for Tre Ciccio.

Originally planned for opening late 2018, the opening had to be pushed back to late February 2019, I understand primarily due to the over running renovation works. So has the wait been worth it?

The Tottington Centre Tea Room

February 25, 2019 by Lee 3 Comments

Back on episode 122 of the podcast I mentioned a little place giving away a free book with a brew.

I also mentioned you could probably walk it from Ramsbottom. Well, this past weekend I put my feet where my mouth is, or something like that.

Me and the family took a trip to Tottington from Ramsbottom, it took around an hour to get there and it was a beautiful day. Our 18 month old enjoyed being pushed around on the way (thankfully she didn’t want to get out and walk otherwise it might have been three hours!) and our five year old did fantastic considering it was 2.5 miles there and 2.5 miles back.

On Thursday the 21st of February there was a public meeting which was arranged by James Frith to discuss issues with a representative from the old Mondi Papermill site and a representative from the banks to discuss their positions in Ramsbottom.

What actually happened was there were no representatives from either banks or from the old papermill site, which I make my opinion of on this episode of the podcast.

From memory I pull out what I felt were the key points from the meeting, I’d love to know what you thought if you attended or if you didn’t, what you thought of the outcome from the points in this podcast episode.

Updated – Oh €℟@Ⓟ! Roadworks set to cause disruption in Ramsbottom yet again.

February 13, 2019 by Lee Leave a Comment

UPDATED 19/02/19: It looks like there’s been some changes to the dates of the roadworks now. Directly below is the most up to date information taken from the roadworks.org website.

  • Bridge Street – 18 Feb – 22 Feb

Ramsbottom, lovely town but damn we don’t half have a lot of road works. One way to know that there is a school holiday coming up is to see how many planned road works there are due, and this coming week is no exception with no less than four major planned road works for our town which will no doubt bring everything to a standstill. Partly due to the limited routes through Ramsbottom in general.

As a result of these roadworks there will be changes to the bus routes.

If you want to check the full list of planned road works for yourself you can find them all on roadworks.org, however here are the main ones you should probably be aware of:

See start of article for latest on these roadworks.
  • Bolton Street 18th Feb – 20th Feb
  • Carr Street 19th Feb – 21st Feb
  • Bridge Street 19th Feb – 21st Feb
  • Bridge Street 19th Feb – 21st Feb
  • Bolton Street 26th Feb – 28th Feb
  • Bolton Street Roadworks
  • Bridge Street Roadworks
  • Carr Street Roadworks

Ramsbottom United bow out of FA Trophy, but my, how they did us proud!

February 12, 2019 by Lee Leave a Comment

It started back in October, a win against Trafford. 2-1, a good win, but little did we know at the time how far we would go.

Ramsbottom United, our Ramsbottom United, the little team sitting on the bank of the River Irwell, often the underdogs, would progress this far in the FA Trophy.

We host matches on soggy pitches, with borrowed lights, borrowed stands, hot drinks in real mugs and Rammy Ultras singing out loud.

Ramsbottom United, have done us proud. Never before have we progressed as far as we did this year. To travel as far as Weymouth, where some would have predicted our journey would have ended, but no, we kept our heads up and came away with an amazing win. We were in the news, on the radio and on TV.

After 12 matches though, it came to an end. Against a team, three leagues above us, but not three leagues in quality. Several times we created chances, and we truly gave it our all.

AFC Fylde 4, Ramsbottom United 1.

Our hearts may be heavy, but we should all be proud of that little club, from the banks of the River Irwell, with our borrowed lights, borrowed stands with echos of songs and chants of “Come on you Rams!”
