Update: Resolved Power Cut affects many areas of Bury

March 24, 2019 by Lee Leave a Comment

Update: Electricity North West are now reporting the issue as resolved on Twitter, however it appears to have disappeared from their website.

Update #BL8 #Bury, we have now restored all supplies, thank you for your patience – Nette

It’s a nightmare scenario, you’re just about to sit down with your tea to watch Antiques Roadshow when the world goes dark!

No, this isn’t a Brexit scenario (although if you’re to believe some information, this could be on the cards in the future). What’s happened is the power has gone out. Here on my road it was only off for less than a second (however this happened three times), but it was enough to reset most of the digital clocks in the house.

Ramsbottom Cycle Shop due to open. Carl Ashworth, owner of The Bike Fitting Room in Prestwich is opening a shop in Ramsbottom in the former premises of DJ Cycles on Bolton Road West.

The current plan is to have it open for the first week of April, providing sales, servicing, repairs and free coffee to cyclists on a Sunday morning between between 9-10.

The Bike Fitting Room will be based here by appointment, private maintenance sessions by appointment and no doubt Carl will bring other ideas forward once he gets going. Great to see a bike shop opening up again in Ramsbottom.

It’s a busy podcast episode this week, sheesh. I’ll tell you, when I first thought about starting a podcast for Ramsbottom, I seriously wondered if there would be enough going on to create a weekly show, well this week has really put me in my place.

Hope you enjoy it, and please do share it if you like what I do.

Ramsbottom just got sweeter with the opening of Zara Cakes

March 15, 2019 by Lee 1 Comment

Nestled between Mosley and Co and Pink Rhino opposite the Tilted Vase

Businesswoman Zara Neild Ingham has brought her business Zara Cakes to Ramsbottom.

Opening in the premises that has been amongst other things a lingerie shop and clothing alterations shop it is situated just a couple of doors down from the recently opened Tre Ciccio.

Zara Cakes is open from Friday the 15th of March 2019, if you’re quick enough you can also get a 20% discount and some free Prosecco to celebrate their opening day.

Originally starting baking cakes from her kitchen over 9 years ago and having a team now you’d think that she could sit back, not at all. Zara is still very much hands on helping out with baking, cleaning, delivering, whatever is required.

Tool to help reduce “volume” on Ramsbottom social media groups.

March 14, 2019 by Lee Leave a Comment

Google Chrome Tune promises to bring calm back to comments.

We all know how fantastic social media can be, but what about when things go a bit too far?

This tool could be something quite valuable in a world where there have been, lets say “heated debates” on Facebook groups for Ramsbottom often.

Now, this tool shouldn’t removed valid comments and complaints, however it should be possible to remove comments that have deteriorated into name calling.

This extension is very new having only been release in the past few days. You need to have Google Chrome installed and this will only work on a computer, so sadly you can’t benefit from this on mobile.

The extension is called Tune, from Jigsaw (a division of Google). What it does is allow you to “tune” the volume of comments you see on popular sites including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and Disqus.

You can get the extension here from the Google Chrome Web Store.
