It’s been an eventful year. Since I started This is Rammy it’s grown from a website geared around promoting Ramsbottom where I just wanted to publish everything I learnt about our town, to an award winning podcast.
When it was first started, I had no idea that in less than six months I would be launching a podcast. Firstly, aside from consuming lots of podcasts as a listener, I didn’t have the first clue as to where to start to create one, other then I’d need a Mic.
As of this month, November 2015 however, I can confidently say I could sit down and help anyone start a podcast from scratch just from an idea. Granted, I couldn’t guarantee that they would win an award, but then again, I never expected or set out to win an award with This is Rammy.
The main focus for me was to create content about Ramsbottom that I would enjoy listening to myself. Luckily for me, it seems you wanted to listen to that content too.
I’ve been lucky enough to meet some amazing people so far on my journey with the podcast, and I truly hope that you feel like you’ve met them too. This is one of the benefits of a podcast, it brings a much more personal approach.
As we come towards the end of this year, my favourite thing about the podcast has been getting to know the people of Ramsbottom. Having only moved to Ramsbottom last October, I didn’t know everything there was about the place, I knew what I liked and that was about it.
That’s when my journey started, by joining various Facebook groups and reading about the history of Ramsbottom in books from heritage society and the library and even buying old ordnance survey maps of the town.
I love Ramsbottom, it has a great sense of community and I just hope that with the podcast I can continue to get more people learning about our town and it’s people. I’m hoping that you listening to the show, are not just based in Ramsbottom, but that you’re getting on with your busy life learning about a little town called Ramsbottom.
This is where you come in. I can only talk about the podcast so much before people start to ignore me (my family and friends started ignoring me when I talk about the podcast a long time ago). So please, if you enjoy the podcast, share it or leave a review (which in turn helps the podcast be more locatable).
Every week when the podcast is released I post to Twitter, Facebook and Google+, if you could share that post with your followers, that would be amazing.
Naturally, I want as many people to listen to learn about Ramsbottom as possible, and if by listening to the show they do that, then my goal is achieved, besides if you like it there’s a good chance someone else just might.
If you’ve not yet subscribed to the podcast, it couldn’t be easier. It’s available in iTunes and almost every other podcast application. So, if you have a smartphone or tablet, chances are, you can subscribe to the podcast. Have a look at the subscription page for more details.
