Electric Car charging points in Ramsbottom

GMEV-ChargepointElectric cars have taken off in the past year or so, with many news outlets pumping out how they are cleaner, greener and can help cut costs (ignoring the fact that most are considerably more expensive than their fossil fuel burning equivalents).

Well with our Electric Car charging points in Ramsbottom we can certainly cater for this growing class of driver.

Some of the more popular electric cars, at least when it comes to a news standpoint are the Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen e-UP (can’t help but say this in a Yorkshire accent), and the Tesla Model S to name but three.

The Tesla model S being by far the most expensive with the basic model coming in just shy of £60,000. So, it might be reassuring to know that at the moment, you can get “FREE” fuel here in Ramsbottom.

Although a fairly unlikely location for two electric charging points, Ramsbottom is keeping with the times. If you’ve not seen the electric charging points, they are in the Prince Street Car Park, a stones through from The Irwell Works Brewery.

The two charging points are provided by GMEV (Greater Manchester Electric Vehicle Scheme) and apparently, looking at their map of charging points (see below), they are FREE:

For those of you who might not have seen what the spaces look like, they look like this:

GMEV-ChargingSpaces

You touch your pre-registered GMEV card onto the sensor and it will charge your car, just don’t forget to do this or you’ll have a sad face when you get back from your shopping trip to find your car’s no more charged than when you left it.

The power output of these is as shown above, 7 kW, that’s enough to charge for example a Nissan Leaf fully in about 3-4 hours. However, given that most of the parking in Ramsbottom is only for a few hours, you might only get time to charge 50%, but it will be enough to get you home, or at least to the next charging point.

So, if you find yourself in Ramsbottom, with your Electric Vehicle (EV) you know exactly where there are Electric Car charging points in Ramsbottom. Whilst you’re here, why not check out some Ramsbottom Opening Hours: https://www.thisisrammy.co.uk/ramsbottom-opening-hours

slightly missing the point at the end. You’re average driver will drive from Bury to Ramsbottom which uses only a small amount of charge then simply top up in Ramsbottom back to full whilst shopping. Likely stay will be no more than an hour or less. People with normal cars don’t get this point and always seem to think ev drivers stop for hours at every point. Easy to forget we leave home full in the first place. Points like this are nice to have, not need to have for an ev.

Totally appreciate this, and I was trying to highlight charge times from a low battery to full. You’re totally right, the majority of the time its a trickle charge style top up that you’re after and not a full charge.

Putting it into fossil fuel perspective, it would be a little like going shopping and coming back with £10 worth of petrol in your car as opposed to a full tank.

I agree that most people will be pretty local, but its always good to have these points for those visitors to our town who are travelling further afield.
